Adam's First Letter

August 16, 2013

Dear Mom and Dad and Ben and Sam,

It's Friday, my second full day here at the MTC.  I am very overwhelmed by all the information being thrown at me, mostly in Tagalog, but other than that, I love it here.  I have my companion (Elder Shelley) and 2 other pairs of companions in my room, which is only really meant for 4 people, so its pretty congested.  My companion, the 2 other pairs of companions, and 3 pairs of girl companions make up our district.  There's a couple other districts in our branch I think, and we're all going to the Philippines and learning Tagalog, however the other districts have been here much longer so they know what they're doing.  I taught my first lesson in Tagalog today!  It was extremely difficult and was mostly just memorization.  Here is our introduction:

Kumusta po kaye?  Alo po si Elder Lasley.  Koyama ko po si Elder Shelley.  Mga Misyoneros po kami ng ang Sunibahan ni Jesucristo ng mga Banai sa mga Huling Arow.

That means:
Hello, how are you?  I am Elder Lasley.  My companion is Elder Shelley.  We are missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

CRAZY STUFF.

Anyways, everthing's going wellk I'm having lots of fun.  Don't worry about me!  Remember to stay in touch with Maddie.  I don't want her getting lonely.  Oh, and do you think you can send me some stamps?  They're 10 for $15 here and that is way too expensive.

Love, Adam (Elder Lasley)
